Hotspur U-21 Turn Back Bellevue, 6-5
|
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 and Bellevue Bruins obliged those fans who came to Bellevue Field looking for a good time.
Phoenix beat Bellevue, 6-5. The win in part was due to right fielder Tyler Kinjeketile, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Phoenix reliever Leon von Stroheim was credited with the win, to go to 1-3. Chet Saks took the loss for Bellevue.
Julián De Paz came through for Phoenix when he hit a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a 1-1 forkball to right field, staking his team to a 6-5 lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said De Paz, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The 6th-place Hotspur U-21 lifted their record to 26-28.
