The Northern Lions BC had to overcome a fine effort from Oakland pitcher José García to grab a 4-2 win at Great Northern Field. García went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Tyler MacHugh got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2.

Terumoto Kurihara, the Thunder Bay second baseman, contributed a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 2-0, Northern Lions BC. For the game, Kurihara went 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams. "Our pregame was pretty good."
