Torch Get One-Run Win at Highwood
|
The exploits of right fielder Blake Snow, who is tied for 5th in the 3A in total bases with 146, helped the Mancelona Torch defeat the Highwood Hawks, 7-1. Snow was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Mancelona reliever Tomás Vargas picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. John Wallbank took the loss. The 9th-place Torch lifted their record to 42-51.
With Mancelona leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Snow hit a curveball from John Wallbank for a run-scoring double. It was his 29th double of the season and put the Torch ahead, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Snow said in reaction to the win.
