Connetquot Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
Myrtle Beach played host to Connetquot at the friendly confines of Seahwaks Stadium.
Myrtle Beach got an elite performance from starting pitcher Ira Hipps in taking a 4-0 decision over the Connetquot Chiefs. Hipps was the winning pitcher and moves to 7-3. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks.
Myrtle Beach took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a big hit from Gérard Chesnutt. On a full count fastball from Kidlat Dakila, Chesnutt hit a run-scoring single. That made it 1-0, Seahawks. For the day, Chesnutt was 1 for 3.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Myrtle Beach skipper Chris Brown. "I can't complain."
The third-place Seahawks lifted their record to 51-36.
