Herons Edge Idaho Falls in Pitching Duel
|
The Herons had to overcome a fine effort from Idaho Falls pitcher Jorge Mejía to grab a 1-0 win at The Heron Refuge. Mejía went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Kelemeneke Balun finished the game for Hammond and earned his 2nd save. After today's action, Hammond sits at 49-34, while Idaho Falls falls to 53-30.
Hammond took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Sixto Estrada hit a clutch solo home run to bring Herons fans to their feet.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Estrada.
