The Louisiana Dragoons did just enough to sneak past the Delaware 1787 BC, 2-0, at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Louisiana pitcher Javier Browne earned player of the game honors. In 5 innings, Browne surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Tony Gonzáles earned the save for Louisiana, his 1st of the year.
Tied up with the 1787 BC in the bottom of the fifth, the Dragoons got a boost from right fielder Nelson Muntz. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Muntz saw a 1-1 curveball from Osvaldo Garibe and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Louisiana on top, 2-0.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Browne said.
The Dragoons, now 36-41, have won 5 in a row.
