The Boston Patriots did just enough to sneak past the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 4-1, at Dunkin Donuts Park. Boston pitcher John Kaufman earned player of the game honors. Boston improves to 71-37 with the win. They lead their division by 11˝ games.

Tied up with the Northern Lions BC in the bottom of the fifth, the Patriots got a boost from third baseman Jorge Alejándrez. With a runner on 1st, Alejándrez saw a 0-1 fastball from Rafael Cardona and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Boston on top, 3-1.

"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Thunder Bay skipper Scott Williams.
