Seahawks Shut Out Herons
|
The Hammond Herons got a superb performance from pitcher Gregory Bahena, but the Seahawks still won the game, 1-0. Bahena was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. Neil Franson picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-2. He struck out 4 in 6 innings. The save went to Alberto Baca, his 8th this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Myrtle Beach, had it not been for Borja Berrios, the 21-year old third baseman . Berrios contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Myrtle Beach up, 1-0.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Berrios.
The third-place Seahawks improved to 34-26.
