The Provo Mango got a magnificent performance from pitcher Nicolas Roche, who muffled the Mancelona offense en route to a tight 2-0 Mango win at Mango Yard. The winning pitcher was Roche, now 5-3. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. Earning his 13th save for Provo was Juan Sánchez.

A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Mango sent teenager Hong Wei Cao to the plate against Torch hurler Ron Manning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 changeup to score 1.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Cao.

The 6th-place Torch have lost 4 consecutive games.
