"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Medina.
Provo used a superb performance from starting pitcher Gilberto Medina to down the Hammond Herons, 1-0. Provo now sits at 19-18, while Hammond falls to 22-15.
The standout performance belonged to 18-year-old Medina. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Mango. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Herons, striking out 12 and scattering 3 hits over 6.2 innings. Medina is now 3-3 on the season.
"I like what I saw today," said Provo manager Tim Davis, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
