Renaissance Take Tight Tilt
|
Detroit beat Richardson City at Detroit Field, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Valentín Guzmán, who earned player of the game honors. He was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jaime Carrión picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 0. On the season, he is now 8-5. The Renaissance move to 46-58 with the win, while the Thundercats drop to 58-46.
Guzmán had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the second. On a first pitch fastball from Eduardo Díaz, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Renaissance a 4-1 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Guzmán.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Guzmán.
