Fans who came to Hawks Field watched the Highwood Hawks and the York Revolution fight to the finish.
Highwood pitcher Matt Digby did his part in helping his team beat the York Revolution, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Digby picked up the win for Highwood, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0.
In the bottom of the 6th, center fielder Iikka Karpinen gave Highwood the lead when he hit a 2-run triple. The Hawks had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out triple off York pitcher Joel Farrell changed that -- and Highwood went on to win.
Karpinen called the triumph "a good team win."
The Hawks raised their record to 10-12.
