The Mancelona Torch picked up a win at York Park, knocking off the York Revolution, 2-1. On the mound for Mancelona was right-hander Ron Manning, who played a pivotal role in the win. Manning, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. York, at 3-14, has had a dismal start to the season.
Burt Babbs was a key contributor to the win for the Torch. In the top of the seventh with no one out, the light-hitting designated hitter stroked a single to center. He was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Babbs told reporters after the game.
