The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles trumped the Lancaster Farmers, 6-3, at Farmers Field. Mercer Island first baseman José Rico was named player of the game for his performance. He went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Paris Nowlin locked down his 1st save. The Screaming Eagles move to 53-43 with the win, while the Farmers drop to 39-57.
In the top of the sixth, Dimian Menres had a big 2-run double off Javier Matajudíos. With the double, the Mercer Island right fielder put his team in front, 5-3. He went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs in the contest.
In comments to the Mercer Island Herald, Menres insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
