Thundercats Defeat Patriots, 3-2
|
The Richardson City Thundercats picked up a win at The Thunder Dome, knocking off the Boston Patriots, 3-2. Starting pitcher Josef van der Poel, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. van der Poel got the win, improving to 12-6. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. van der Poel allowed 2 earned runs. The second-place Thundercats improved to 56-45.
Terrence Eler also delivered for the Thundercats. The veteran designated hitter belted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. The longball put Richardson City on top, 3-1. Overall, Eler went 2 for 4 with a home run.
"Feels good to get the job done," van der Poel said after the game.
