The San Antonio BC did just enough to sneak past the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 5-2, at Mercer Island Grounds. San Antonio pitcher Jim Unknown earned player of the game honors. Unknown went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. Pepe Delgado finished the game for San Antonio and earned his 4th save.
San Antonio grabbed a 4-2 lead in the top of the fourth when Abraham Phelps hit a 2-run double. For the day, Phelps went 2-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Phelps told the San Antonio Daily News.
The BC move to 39-50 with the win, while the Screaming Eagles drop to 49-40.
