Express Fall to .500 After Loss to Renaissance
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Detroit Renaissance eventually prevailed at Platform 9 3/4.
Wizarding third baseman António Martínez was sensational. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Detroit beat the Express, 4-3. Martínez was named the player of the game despite the loss. The winner was Jaime Carrión, who threw 105 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Getting the save was José Ortíz, his 1st.
Ray Sears also delivered for the Renaissance. The veteran third baseman belted a solo home run in the top of the sixth. The longball put Detroit on top, 4-2. Overall, Sears went 2-3 with a home run and a walk.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sears said.
With the win, the Renaissance improved to 45-55.
