Lancaster had no answer for Yakima Hops starter Jorge Cruz, who flummoxed Farmers hitters as the Hops cruised to a 9-0 victory. Cruz picked up the win for Yakima, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 5-7. Yakima is 44-38 and Lancaster, with the loss, 35-47.
Also doing his part was second baseman Mario Salazar, who stroked a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the first for Yakima. For the game, Salazar went 2-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Lancaster manager Jack Barnes.
