Oaks Get One-Run Win at Atlanta
|
"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Joseph.
The Oakland Oaks picked up a win at Smoke Ballpark, knocking off the Atlanta Smoke, 5-3. Starting pitcher Mimosa Joseph was an essential part of his team's success. Joseph got the win, improving to 10-8. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Joseph allowed 1 earned run. Finn Wuilink was called on to finish, recording his 10th save.
Lexington, Kentucky-born Jorge Vargas came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st and the Oaks trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run to right to put Oakland on top.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Joseph.
The Oaks now have a record of 44-55 with the win over Atlanta.
