Farmers Lose, 6-2, at Mercer Island Grounds
|
Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Jules Goux turned in an exceptional performance against the Lancaster Farmers at Mercer Island Grounds, resulting in a Mercer Island win, 6-2. Goux, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. The third-place Screaming Eagles improved to 42-31.
Mercer Island took a 3-2 lead on Stephen Dowell's 37th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Dowell hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Lancaster pitcher Luis Castillo shaking his head.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Lancaster manager Jack Barnes. "The effort was great."
