Hops Best Lionhearts in Pitching Duel
|
The Yakima Hops picked up a win at Lionheart Field, knocking off the Lannister United Lionhearts, 2-1. Starting pitcher Emílio Mavarro was an essential part of his team's success. Reynaldo Maestas locked down his 19th save. The Hops, at 40-31, sit in 5th place in the Premier AA.
In the top of the fourth inning, first baseman Alfonso Nazario came through big-time for the Hops. With Yakima leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Yakima skipper Craig Walters.
