Tight Tilt Goes to Highlanders, 4-3
|
Asheville played host to Mercer Island at the friendly confines of Asheville Park.
Asheville withstood an impressive performance by Mercer Island left fielder Hideki Hisanobu to defeat the Screaming Eagles, 4-3, at Asheville Park. Hisanobu went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Gus Gamble picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Panda Montana was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Brandon McAllister, his 3rd.
The Highlanders beat the Screaming Eagles in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the double Miguel Montoya produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Mercer Island pitcher Panda Montana, he gave his team a 4-1 lead when he hit a bases-clearing double.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Montoya said.
The Highlanders move to 17-33 with the win, while the Screaming Eagles drop to 28-22.
