Screaming Eagles Get Past Asheville for 5-3 Win
|
Mercer Island beat Asheville at Asheville Park, escaping with a 5-3 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Marcos Reyes, who earned player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mercer Island reliever Luis Ochoa picked up the win to move to 2-2. Luis López suffered the loss. The Screaming Eagles improved to 28-21.
Reyes had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a first pitch slider from Luis López, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Screaming Eagles a 5-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Reyes.
"It feels good to get that win," said Reyes. "Now it's on to the next one."
