Screaming Eagles Top Hot N Readys, 3-2

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got a stellar effort from pitcher Tomiji Saikawa, helped Mercer Island score a 3-2 win over the visiting Little Caesars Hot N Readys. Saikawa went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-2. The Screaming Eagles bumped their record to 27-21 with this latest triumph.
The Screaming Eagles beat the Hot N Readys in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the single Marcos Reyes produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Little Caesars pitcher Leif Mayer, he gave his team a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Hugh Harris.
