Highlanders Win Behind Martínez, 5-1
The Asheville Highlanders went home winners at Asheville Park, thanks in large part to starter Romano Martínez. Martínez silenced the Yakima Hops, enabling Asheville to grab the 5-1 win. The last-place Hops have lost 4 straight games.

Martínez, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited performance. The hurler struck out 8 in 7.1 innings and gave up no earned runs. Martínez, who leads the PAA in strikeouts with 78, raised his record to 4-4 on the year with 78 strikeouts.
