Screaming Eagles Get Win, Extend Streak to 5
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and the Yakima Hops, pitcher Panda Montana was at the top of his game. The Mercer Island right-hander was named the player of the game in Mercer Island's 3-1 win. Montana, now 4-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Greg Davis got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Also doing his part was center fielder Héctor Santandreu, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third for Mercer Island. For the game, Santandreu went 1-3 with a walk.
"This team is real focused right now," said Mercer Island Screaming Eagles manager Jared Gilbert.
The Screaming Eagles, at 26-19, have now won 5 straight.
