The Asheville Highlanders did just enough to secure a 4-2 victory over the Lancaster Farmers at Farmers Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Brandon McAllister, who captured player of the game honors. McAllister, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Even with the win, the Asheville Highlanders have a dismal 12-30 record.
In the top of the second, Ed Lastinger had a big run-scoring double off Mike Brandner. With the double, the Asheville designated hitter put his team in front, 1-0. He went 2-4 with a double in the contest.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said McAllister.
