Screaming Eagles Lose, 5-3, at Farmers Field
|
Stephen Dowell did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles from losing, 5-3, to the Lancaster Farmers at Farmers Field. Dowell was 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Shawn Singleton in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Piotr Oja took the loss. Earning his 8th save for Lancaster was Raúl Nieto.
The Farmers got a big at-bat from António Jiménez. For the game, Jiménez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 23rd hit of the season gave Lancaster a 2-1 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Jiménez said after the game.
The win puts the Farmers at 14-18, while the Screaming Eagles drop to 15-17.
