Mercer Island overcame a superlative game from Bernard Gauthier to beat Little Caesars, 8-4. The Little Caesars second baseman took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Panda Montana picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. Pedro Álvarez finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Nelson Plasenia was a key contributor to the win for the Screaming Eagles. In the top of the eighth with two out, the light-hitting shortstop stroked a double to right. He went 1 for 2 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Plasenia said.

The Screaming Eagles now own a record of 11-14.
