Highlanders Lose, 7-4, at Hops Park
The Yakima Hops started the 2027 season win an impressive 7-4 win against the Asheville Highlanders at Hops Park. Merlin Bassett, who is rated as the 11th best prospect by BNN, was named player of the game. Earning his 1st save for Yakima was Reynaldo Maestas.

In the bottom of the first, Chad Shafer hit a 2-run single for Yakima. The 2nd hit of the season for the Yakima catcher put the Hops on top, 2-0.

"It was a solid team effort," said Shafer after the game.
