BC Stymie Sunset District, Take 4-0 Win
|
The Houston BC topped the Sunset District Fog, 4-0, in USPL Triple A action at Houston Park. The player of the game was Houston pitcher and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho native Mike Owens. Owens picked up the win for Houston, going 6.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 7-6. Arnout Els earned the save for Houston, his 1st.
Tied up with the Fog in the bottom of the fifth, the BC got a boost from left fielder Albert Delgado. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Delgado saw a 0-1 cutter from Merlin Bassett and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Houston on top, 1-0.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Sunset District manager Rick Nash.
Houston is now 41-43, Sunset District 42-42.
