Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Athletic Club KC Reserves got the win.
Pure Michigan got a terrific performance from pitcher Kent Scalici, but it wasn't enough to beat the Athletic Club KC Reserves. Athletic Club KC won the KC Reserve Stadium contest, 4-2. Scalici was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The Reserves saw their win-loss record go to 31-32. At the same time, the Great Lakers fall to 25-38.
Also contributing to the win was designated hitter Sang-your Yu, who stroked a single in the bottom of the fourth for Athletic Club KC. For the game, Yu went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
In postgame comments, Yu told the Athletic Club KC Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
