Bakersfield starter Valentín Rivera pitched effectively against the Gryfindor Braves at Jerome Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a 8-3 win. The first-place Nobles now have a 5-game winning streak.

Jorge Velázquez brought the hometown crowd to its feet in the bottom of the first. That's when the 22-year old first baseman belted a 2-run home run. With the round-tripper, the Nobles took the lead, 2-0.

"I like our mindset right now," said Bakersfield manager James Wheeler.
