Lake Monsters Come Back Late to Clip Great Lakers
|
Pure Michigan pitcher José López gave the Lake Monsters all they could handle, but in the end, Vermont left Monster Field with a 4-3 win. López allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings. The win was credited to Alberto Robles in relief. His record improves to 2-7. Tsugahara Hori took the loss. The Lake Monsters now have a record of 15-25 with the win over Pure Michigan.
In the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Rodrigo Velasco gave Vermont the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Lake Monsters had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out double off Pure Michigan pitcher Tsugahara Hori changed that -- and Vermont went on to win.
In postgame remarks, Velasco said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
