Great Day for John in Lake Monsters Win
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters knocked off the Plymouth Rocks, 11-2, at Monster Field. Ray John, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Vermont won. The first baseman was 2-2 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Jim Unknown earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Lake Monsters raised their record to 8-13.
John had a key at-bat for Vermont early in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and gave Vermont an early 2-0 lead.
In postgame comments, John told the Vermont Herald: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
