Dragoons Defeat Hawks, 3-1
|
Blaine Stottlar pitched well, but the Highwood Hawks still lost the game, falling 3-1 to the Louisiana Dragoons at Hawks Field. Won-u Yi picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-1. The defending champion Dragoons have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 5-6 with the win.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the ninth inning when the Dragoons sent teenager Nelson Muntz to the plate against Hawks hurler Érico Laborde. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-1 sinker to score 2.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Muntz.
