Renaissance Walk Off with 1-0 Win
|
Todd Hines never let the Wizarding Express find their groove. Throughout the game, Hines, who is tied for 6th in the PL in strikeouts with 107, relied on his bread and butter, his change up, in pitching the Renaissance to a win. The win was credited to Rubén Rodríguez in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Ralph McKinney took the loss. With the win, Detroit goes to 39-39, while the Express fall to 36-42.
Detroit won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. That's when third baseman Ray Sears hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Renaissance fans to their feet.
"Runs were at a premium," said Detroit manager Joe Koralewski.
