Parker 4-4, Leads 1837 BBC to Win
|
The Houston 1837 BBC knocked off the Portland Evergreens, 5-3, at Evergreen Park. Tracy Parker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Houston won. The first baseman went 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Houston reliever Collin Hill picked up the win, upping his record to 7-3. Richard Sykes shouldered the loss. The 4th-place 1837 BBC now have a win-loss record of 58-48.
Parker had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Richard Sykes, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the 1837 BBC a 3-2 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Parker.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Parker told the Houston Daily News.
