Evergreens Come Up Short at New Amsterdam
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen picked up a win at Dutch Master Park, knocking off the Portland Evergreens, 7-3. Starting pitcher António Hernández was an essential part of his team's success. Ramón Lara got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Dutchmen raised their record to 20-22.
A defensive miscue in the bottom of the fourth could have cost the Dutchmen. With New Amsterdam leading 2-0, Eric Ward reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 2 runs. In the end, New Amsterdam was still able to win the ballgame.
"António was throwing free and easy," said New Amsterdam manager Sal Gaudio.
