Red Pandas Pin 3-2 Loss on Tritons
|
The Jersey City Tritons got a superb performance from pitcher Ricardo Rodríguez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Sioux Falls. The Red Pandas won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Rodríguez was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Armando Marrero, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 0. His record now stands at 3-0. Jim Unknown earned the save for Sioux Falls, his 1st of the year.
In the top of the 7th, shortstop Kenneth Noid gave Sioux Falls the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Red Pandas had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Jersey City pitcher Oliver Huerta changed that -- and Sioux Falls went on to win.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Noid said.
The Red Pandas move to 40-47 with the win, while the Tritons drop to 46-41.
