The Alloway Halberds did just enough to sneak past the Pawnee ParksNRec, 4-2, at Whips Ballpark. Alloway pitcher Bob Browning earned player of the game honors. Browning, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Alloway is 40-34 and Pawnee, with the loss, 41-33.
Noah Smith's at-bat in the top of the third was significant for the Halberds. Coming to the plate with the bases loaded and Alloway leading 1-0, the second baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
In postgame comments, Smith told the Alloway Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
