Fighting Dachsunds Win at Jersey City, 8-4
|
Ellenburg beat Jersey City, 8-4. The win in part was due to third baseman Félix De La Hoya, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Willie Cameron picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-3. He struck out 4 in 7.1 innings. The 8th-place Tritons have lost 4 consecutive games.
When the Fighting Dachsunds needed a boost, it was the light-hitting De La Hoya who delivered. Facing Jersey City pitcher Chris Sommer the top of the seventh with runners on 1st and 3rd, De La Hoya hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 6-2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," De La Hoya told the Ellenburg News.
