Tritons Win at Pennsauken, 4-2
|
The Pennsauken Flyers and Jersey City Tritons provided some drama at Pennsauken Park.
Preston Witt was instrumental in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Pennsauken Flyers. The first baseman was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for the Jersey City Tritons. Ricardo Rodríguez, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-0. António Rúbio got credit for the save for Jersey City. It was his 1st of the year.
Witt had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 0-1 cutter from Claudio Díaz, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Tritons a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd hit of the year for Witt.
"Both teams played hard," said Jersey City manager Rich Harris.
Jersey City, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
