Fur Traders Slip Past Durham, 6-3

Both teams had their chances, but the Tacoma Fur Traders eventually prevailed at Rapiers Ballpark.
Tacoma left fielder Michael Whorton played a vital role in his team's 6-3 triumph over Durham. He was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Tacoma. Tacoma reliever Jeff Pearce was credited with the win, to go to 5-5. Jim Unknown took the loss for Durham. Curt Walker picked up the save, his 9th.
Tacoma grabbed control in the top of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Tim Lehman delivered a run-scoring triple, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Fur Traders.
In comments to the Tacoma Chronicle, Lehman admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Rapiers, at 43-42, have lost 4 straight games.
