Boston Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss
|
Detroit beat Boston on the strength of starter Domingo Ramírez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-0 win. Ramírez, now 2-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Picking up the save was Rubén Rodríguez, his 2nd.
Valentín Guzmán took John Kaufman deep with no one out in the top of the fifth. On a 0-1 changeup, Guzmán drilled a solo home run to right. It was his 8th home run of the season and put Detroit on top, 1-0.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Detroit skipper Joe Koralewski.
The win puts the Renaissance at 20-27, while the Patriots drop to 31-16.
