Late Rally by Youth Secures Win
|
It was a fun time at Grenadiers Ballpark, where the Marquette Miners and Phoenix Hotspur Youth tangled.
Marquette third baseman Mark Keys was sensational. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Phoenix Hotspur beat the Miners, 6-5. Keys was named the player of the game despite the loss. The first-place Youth have a one-game lead in their division.
The Youth were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when designated hitter António Escalante turned a first pitch changeup from Addick Lubbers into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Phoenix Hotspur a thrilling 6-5 win.
"Exhilarating win," said Escalante.
