Northern Lions BC Get Past Wizarding for 5-3 Win
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC faced a tough opponent in Wizarding pitcher Allen Blair, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Platform 9 3/4 by a final score of 5-3. Blair went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Thunder Bay reliever Bill Lee picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Enrico Reséndez was saddled with the loss. Things have gone south in a hurry for the defending champion Northern Lions BC, who notched only their 2nd win in 5 games.
David Smith provided some late-game heroics for Thunder Bay. In the top of the eighth inning, he hit a 2-run double. It came on a 1-0 fastball from Enrico Reséndez and propelled Thunder Bay to a 5-3 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Smith told a Thunder Bay Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
