Polar Bears Stymie Chesapeake, Take 6-1 Win
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Homer Spence, the Billings Polar Bears defeated the Chesapeake Continentals, 6-1. Spence went 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles for the Polar Bears. Ordono Lima picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 3 in 5.1 innings. The Billings Polar Bears are off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 16 games.
Spence came through with some timely hitting for Billings. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the third and two down, Spence hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season -- and a big reason the Polar Bears managed to win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Spence told the Billings Citizen.
