Golden Cranes Come Up Short at Bloomington
|
The Bloomington Longnecks picked up a win at Lookouts Ballpark, knocking off the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 6-4. Starting pitcher Giovanni Mireles played a key role in the triumph. Mireles, now 12-8, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Walt Cooley earned the save for Bloomington, his 22nd of the year.
Also doing his part was catcher Adrián Gómez, who stroked a 2-run double in the bottom of the second for Bloomington. For the game, Gómez went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Mireles. "Successful pitchers do it."
Bloomington occupies third place in the Menard's AAA at 57-43.
