In a tight game between the Scranton Supernovas and the Brinkley Belugas, pitcher Pedro Rodríguez was terrific on the mound. The Scranton right-hander was named the player of the game in Scranton's 2-0 win. In 6.1 innings, Rodríguez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. The Belugas, now 47-52, have lost 4 in a row.
Tied up with the Belugas in the top of the fourth, the Supernovas got a boost from designated hitter Phillip Tinker. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Tinker saw a 2-2 fastball from Juan Hernández and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Scranton on top, 1-0.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Wilson Alvarado. "That was the problem."
